Rental car from Port of Miami

I can't find a recent thread regarding this.

We are sailing on Dec and we have 10+ hours to tour Miami. I plan on renting a car.

Avis seems to have a shuttle from port to their center. Alamo does not have any cars left. Just wondering if there are any car rental shuttles that will take me to the MIA rental center. Avis is charging me $$ vs renting at the airport.

Also, what's the cost of riding a taxi from port of Miami to MIA.

Budget has a shuttle from POM to their downtown location as well. I just rented a car there post-cruise for a day for $50, picking up at Budget POM location and dropping off at FLL (which is where my flight was departing from).

I saw a big rental car bus at POM that was not Avis or Budget and it seems that it was going to the airport, but I'm not sure. Avis & Budget share a smaller shuttle from POM to their downtown location that's about a mile away.

Not sure about the taxi cost from MIA to POM, but you should be able to use the Uber app to estimate the cost. I'd recommend Uber or Lyft over a taxi or a shuttle bus. I didn't rent a car pre-cruise and took Uber from FLL to POM for $27, which was cheaper than a shared shuttle.

I rented a car from MIA last year after our getaway cruise. We just grabbed an UBER once we got off the ship and took it to the airport. At that time, I got a better rate from the airport location and they had more availability. Even after the UBER, it still netted out to be less expensive.

Just did this a couple weeks back. All rental agency's have shuttles that will take you to/from the port to airport to pick up car. Very simple and quick. We used thrifty. Just an FYI, most roads around the airport are cashless tolls so make sure you get the pass plate. It was $10 for the day for unlimited tolls. The fines are $15 per toll + what ever the toll cost is if you don't have it.

I was planning this too. Average rental for a sedan in MIA is less than $20 vs 50+ near POM.
