I got my email this morning. I'm not going to lie. I'm a little bummed. I've been on Valor twice and specifically didn't want that ship for my next cruise. Although, I am glad to not be stranded in the ocean on the other one either! :D

So glad our December 1st on the Valor will not be affected. I am sure the Liberty is fine but I love the Valor. Hoping she comes back to Port Canaveral soon.

The technical problem on Carnival Liberty is "affecting the ship's maximum cruising speed," he wrote. "The issue is only affecting the ship's speed… all other systems are operating normally. The ship is capable of operating cruises at reduced maximum speeds while Carnival's technical team, together with outside experts, continues to work to fully resolve the problem."

 

Through the end of November, Liberty will sail modified itineraries from Galveston before going into drydock. After its drydock, it will reposition to Port Canaveral and sail shorter cruises from Florida beginning December 15. Carnival Valor will then be sent to Galveston, because it is better suited to operate at the higher speeds required for the longer Mexico itineraries from the Texas port, Heald said.

 

That makes it sound as though, even after Drydock, the ship won't be running at full speed. What on Earth is wrong with it that can't even be fully repaired in Drydock?!

It's a short dry don't dock. Lots of speculation in Galveston that it's going to require removal/replacement of an engine....
