Start out at Watson Island - I-395, just across from the cruise ship terminal. Then move down to South Pointe Park at the tip of South Beach and watch as they go through Government Cut.

Smith & Wollensky is a very nice restaurant to have dinner at and watch them sail past... http://www.smithandwollensky.com/LOC-MiamiBeach-Hours.asp

Thank You ... so we plan to disembark the inaugural sailing, rent a vehicle and I am assuming the best place to go is to the airport to do this....

Since we are planning to have a morning departure out of Miami Airport not sure of where to stay...South Beach...Miami Airport? want to minimize travelling times and was thinking if we book Miami Airport after we watch the ships sailaway we could return the vehicle to the airport and either taxi it or shuttle to the hotel and then in the morning do the same for the flight....

Do not really want to return the car morning of flight in case of delays.

Any thoughts?

There are no rental car companies at the port, but some of the majors will pick you up and shuttle you to their airport locations.

Yes, if you have an early flight and want to return the car the night before, staying at the airport is a good idea.

These are all nice MIA airport hotels...
