Cell service

Just curious if I will have cell service in San Juan. If I needed to contact the states, I am hoping that would be the best stop for it.

It will depend on your wireless carrier. I have Verizon and I used my phone with no problem and no roaming charges. Since it's a US territory it was like I was in the states.

AT&T works fine around San Juan.

I have Virgin Mobile, which is pre-paid and uses the Sprint network, and had no problem. So I imagine Sprint would work as well as Virgin Mobile. No roaming / international fees as Puerto Rico is part of the US.

Sprint worked just fine in PR and everyother carribean island weve been on. Europe too just incase anyone was wondering too.

Make sure you call sprint and enable your phone to work on the different islands. The settings on my galaxy s5 were different than the s7 and depending on how old you phone is it might not be able to at all. On one trip my wife still had the s3 and it couldnt be used. So double check and make sure your instance is good to go, that way theres no "ouchies" when the bill comes.

PR...no problem...no roaming charges...great service...T-Mobile!
