Ex techie Posted December 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) Did anyone on the cruise from last week get the stomach bug? Asking for someone else spending the last half of their Disney vacation in bed sick at the resort It's that time of year when people get sick from the States, and people bring stomach viruses aboard either knowing or unaware yet that they have them. DCL have strict hygiene cleaning levels in all private and public spaces throughout the year due to the draw of Guests from so many different countries around the world, and the season they may come from. I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but not sure what consolation it would offer them to know others also got sick? ex techie Edited December 6, 2016 by Ex techie

Ex techie Posted December 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2016 She was just wondering so I asked. Well I hope she gets better soon, and realizes it's just one of those things that can happen on a cruise, or any other vacation. ex techie
alaska_planner Posted December 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2016 as ex technie pointed out, winter is noro virus season on land as well as at sea if you look at CDC statistics, typically starting in about mid-november, the cases of noro (on land) increase significantly until peaking in about february/march.. moki'smommy Posted December 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2016 I'll add to the above that your friend could indeed have been exposed on the ship. They could also have contracted the disease on the plane, at a hotel, at an airport, at a rental car counter, etc. all depending on how they arrived at port. Hopefully they are well now. wacruiser77 Posted December 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2016 We were on Dream last week. No stomach sickness that I was aware of. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
mollyeilis Posted December 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2016 That's no fun. When da and I were hit by noro about 7 months ago it really brought home our poor hand washing practices. We wash after the bathroom, but we didn't tend to wash before we eat. Given that we spend what feels like our whole lives at the YMCA, that's a mistake. We are much better now. Hopefully the friend can see that same thing; that no matter what others might be doing, it's ultimately down to us and our personal practices are in terms of hands at mouths to make sure that we don't get sick.
