Check in early vs. Smart Check-in Appt

We are setting sail on Saturday, the 16th, from Port Everglades.

In the past, we have been able to arrive and check in as early as 10am. As I was going through the online check in process, I was required to select a "Smart Check-in" appointment time, and the earliest available was 2pm.

What I am wondering is if anyone has experience arriving early and checking in several hours ahead of their appointment time? This is what we'd prefer to do, as we have found it suited us much better in getting acclimated aboard the ship.

Thanks for your input,

Karen
