GLCAS Posted November 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2005 How long are you at the beach? Do you feel rushed or is it a slow pace??:)
macala Posted December 27, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2005 :) I think the bike trip is too short and not enough jungleish.
me@sea Posted December 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2006 Princess is offering this tour and I've signed up. I love the look of the hotel Any feedback about this tour? Is the bus ride long? Interesting? And what is the bike ride like - hopefully it is not too hilly. Lisa
GLCAS Posted January 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2007 This was a good tour to go on, if you don't mind a 2 hr bus ride. The guides on the bus were quite informative, telling us about the flora and fauna, and the scenery was great. They even stopped a few times pointing out little dots in the trees, saying "there's a monkey"! Once arrived we were assigned bikes (1-speed with pedal brakes, but comfy seats) and the trek was pleasant, not at all arduous. Lots to see on the way and you get to stop at the beach for an hour or so. There's no place to sit once you get there so be prepared to stand around or sit on the sand (not unpleasant), ; the vegetation is gorgeous, lots of underbrush and palm-type trees. There is a small souvenir store on the way but you don't have a lot of time to stop, and if you purchase something make sure it fits in your packsack; kindof fun to see though. I suggest you bring your own water-bottle; they serve a fruit juice out of a big jug... can you really trust that? Then it's back to the resort for a rest and a snack; very generous portions of fresh fruit; you can buy bottled beer (Mmmmm). There wasn't a lot of time to poke around the actual resort and the beach is quite a ways from the parking lot but it's a nice walk through the thick vegetation and all the sites are connected with boardwalks... watch your time carefully to not miss the bus if you do go to the beach at the resort. They get you back to the ship in time to do abit of shopping at the portside shops, lots of cool stuff there: coffee, carved stuff, hats etc. All in all this was one of our favorite excursions; the whole family enjoyed it for the variety and the authenticity of the surroundings. (We have 2 girls aged 15 and 18).
