CruisinHoneymooners Posted December 31, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2016 We're considering a day pass for part of our time in Mazatlan, and I am trying to make sure I understand their web site correctly. It reads: European Plan (only room)Adults $17 USD | *Children (5 – 12) $7 USD * The price of the Day Pass in European Plan is redimibile in consumption of food and drinks. Children from 0 to 4 years old are free, children under 5 to 12 years old are charged as Child. Does this mean that we pay $17pp to get in, but then are able to use that $17 towards food and drinks...so, basically the day pass is free as long as we order $17 worth of food? Is that correct? bobnsofi Posted January 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Best Bet... El Cid El Moro, welcomes cruisers with open arms, lots going on, lively beach, huge resort, quiet spots for those seeking quiet. Pay as you go. There will be many folks from your cruise ship there, you will feel right at home (you may feel a bit out of your element at a random resort, as Mazatlan is a large Mexican working town, with mostly Mexican tourists at many resorts, also there are many quiet boring resorts, as cruise ships port mid week, quiet time of the week for resorts; alternatively in Cabo and PV there are many more USA tourists in general, and in general, Mexicans prefer winging it... rather than day passes) We have done the the following many times, as an all day at a resort is not for us, but an hour is Find a Pulmonías Taxi (go out the in terminal in gate and bargain for $20 per hour) go up to the Playa Bruja beach front Cafe' (15 miles north), then start back, along the beach and marina, stop at El Cid, and places that interest you, have the taxi driver drop you off at the stone island ferry (5 min from ship), visit stone island, get a new cab back to the ship (cabs are everywhere) Edited January 1, 2017 by bobnsofi
bobnsofi Posted January 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2017 (edited) Another point for those planning. Cab drivers love to stop and wait for your $20 hour fee (no fuel used). So you could plan to stop at the downtown central market or cathedral (research it), Playa Norte for a beach front Palapa fish taco (research it), A shrimp cafe near the brewery (research it), a brewery tour (research it and get a new cab), Stone Island (research it and get a new cab), the Mairna area (research it), the Golden Zone (research it), not worth your wait cliff diving (research it), or wal mart or costco to stock up on supplies and gifts (use a credit card). Also we bring aboard $100 in new crisp $1 bills, and assorted newer $5's & $10's, and credit card larger buys.... waiting for change is not good, and older/torn cash is not accepted . .
