2Canucks Posted December 31, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2016 I'm looking for a tour guide who takes people to see the Black Howler Monkeys. Thanks in advance for any info you can share with me. Pat
Peery5 Posted January 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2017 Don't know which port you are referring to but we have only seen howler monkeys in Costa Rica. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
2Canucks Posted January 1, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) There is a Black Howler Monkey Sanctuary in Belize. The ship tour goes to the zoo and the monkey sanctuary...different locations but we'd like to do the Altun Ha Ruins and the Monkey Sanctuary so wondered if there were private tour guides available in Belize. rittsail Posted January 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2017 We didn't see the howlers, but we definitely heard them! We went to the Lamanai ruins. It was a great excursion and hearing the monkeys just put it over the top! Very cool experience Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Swagner36 Posted January 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 1, 2017 I went on the river and ruins tour. Saw many monkeys on the river tour part Sent from my iPad using Forums
James in SA Posted January 1, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 1, 2017 We've seen them while ziplining near the caves. Our guide called monkey noises to one in a tree and made him really mad... started peeing and throwing poop!
PurrSusan Posted January 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 1, 2017 We were in Belize the 1st week of Dec & wanted to see the Howler monkeys. We took a private tour with King David Castillo that included the monkeys. Not only did we see them but they came down out of the trees & ate leaves out of our hands!! Our whole tour was fantastic! Check him out! https://www.altournativebelizeservices.com/

2Canucks Posted January 1, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted January 1, 2017 Seems to be a few different options for Black Howler Monkey tours! :) http://www.discoverbelize.bz/belizetours/howler-monkey-baboon-sanctuary-and-altun-ha-maya-ruin-tour-package
Gintraveler Posted January 2, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 2, 2017 When we cruise most of the times we use shoreexcursioneer, I have always found good prices and good tours. I haven't done this one, but you can find on their website the Altun Ha + Monkey Reserve. Maybe you'll find something that fit your needs.
