JFK to Istanbul??? Turkish Airways???

Recommended Posts

I have a choice with American Airlines.

I could get a direct flight using their partner, Turkish Airways...or

I could get a connecting flight through London via British Airways.

The Turkish flight is a few $$$ more but my question is....

How is Turkish Air??? Has anyone ever used them???

Thanks,

Marty

Flown them within Turkey...it was actually quite nice. They actually served food on short flights. Friendly and you can be sure that the US flight is their best crew(seniority)- Delta has a non stop as well-from JFK. Check the prices they seem to compete head to head.

i flew turkish air 3 years ago. i hated it. found it very unorganized and such, however, considering Turkey is a third world country, the airline was good for that part of the world and it was no worse than Olympic (greek) and Alitalia (Italian) airlines. for my money if i have the option to fly British Airways anywhere i will -- i've found from years of flying (i fly about a dozen times a year) BA is in my opinion the best. it really is about how the staff make you fit. i've recently started flying their version of economy plus and i find it worth the money, short of being upgraded i won't pay for business class. however their econ plus which is called world traveller plus is excellent.

Having just returned from 2 weeks in Turkey- I traveled all around, and having been to many third world countries, I don't think of Turkey as third world. It was much better than Russia(not normally thought of third world). The farthest east we got was Ankara, the capital. I do understand that if you go near the Eastern borders it gets more primititive. But I have seen worse in Mississippi and Alabama. The three flights on Turkish air were better than any comparable trip on US airlines in recent years.
