Trent S can you clarify ? about Hyatt Pier 66

Wanted to clarify:

 

After renovations, will there be any area at Hyatt Pier 66 where there will be an observation area where one can watch the ships depart? Will there be an area in a lounge or some walkway that will be open to the public to view departing ships?

They changed the lounge to a banquet room. The only way that you can get up there is if you are invited to a party or if you are holding the party! I just called Pier 66 today about it.

 

There must have been a huge demand for this. I don't see why else they would do this to a landmark in Ft. Lauderdale.

They claim they can get $50,000 a night for it as a "banquet room". :confused:

 

No Diane, other than getting invited to a banquet, the only way to get a good view now is to book a tower room with a southern view.

If you want a cool place with a great view of the ships leaving Port Everglades, and don't mind a bit of a walk or standing, take a walk up onto the SE 17th Street bridge. There are little platforms that jut out from the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge where you can stand and watch the ships. The view of the port is awesome from there!

Trent, I forgot about the 17th street bridge. We usually walk over there or walk the beach to the jetty and watch the ships. Or if you want to splurge, buy a boat (LOL) and cruise though the intercoastal. We also do that too.
