Greenizz41 Posted January 17, 2017 #26 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Hmmm...interesting how the OP never mentions which port...Tampa or PortCanaveral. I just assumed OP meant Port Canaveral. Some on this thread are mentioning Tampa. Oops.....my bad....I saw port and assumed Tampa.....forgot about PC.....lol
gqboy1 Posted January 17, 2017 #27 Share Posted January 17, 2017 We recently came back from our cruise. We opted to stay in Orlando then rent a car and drive to Port Canaveral the next day. No issues and will probably do the same if we cruise again.
Akulakat Posted January 18, 2017 #28 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Yes, We stayed in Cocoa the night before on the beach next to the pier and loved it. There isn't much else to do in Cocoa but we managed dinner on the pier, some beach time, and a couple rounds of putt putt golf. Plenty of activity. From the hotel, the boat is just a few miles down the road. Car rental drop off was near the boat and they have a shuttle to get you there. We were onboard just after 1030 for our RCI cruise. maktiller Posted January 18, 2017 #29 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Hi, my daughter and I are flying a few days before our cruise to do Universal for a few days. Should we shuttle to the port a day early to stay at a hotel nearby or shuttle the day of the cruise? Any thoughts would be great :) Thx Just stay in Orlando and take a shuttle service to the port from your hotel. We are using Cortrans and for us 3 it is $40/each or $120 total round trip!! PCHENG Posted January 19, 2017 #30 Share Posted January 19, 2017 I would go stay in PC the night before cruise if you can find reasonably priced accommodation. While Orlando is less than an hour away, and the odds of heavy traffic congestion on route 528 is slim (at least not as bad as the traffic to Tampa on I-4), crazy things can happen that is completely outside of your control. I remember a few years back a fuel truck slammed into a bridge on 528 causing the entire bridge to collapse and shut down 528 for days. Since 528 has very few exits, it will be difficult for you to get off and take alternate routes if you got stuck.
