RoseGab123 Posted January 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2017 We are thinking of using the p&o coach transfer to southampton instead of as in the past driven there. Has anyone had any experience using the coach? Is it any good? We would be travelling from Cardiff.
ChrisPBacon Posted January 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2017 It's not bad and I normally hate coaches. Usually it's an executive coach with a toilet and they tend to make a stop or two on the way. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Josy1953 Posted January 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2017 In December we were really pleased that we were on a coach because there was a problem on the A34 as a result a journey that usually takes just over 3 hours in the car took 6 hours. The ship waited for the coach but I am not sure that they would wait for 2 passengers in a car. As ChrisPBacon has said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the coach service the coaches are usually modern and of a good standard. Personally we prefer to drive down to Southampton except when we are going down during the winter but if we are driving we go a day earlier in case of traffic problems. If you do decide to drive I would say think carefully about staying close to Southampton on the night before the cruise.
jaynor Posted January 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2017 We have been using the coach for many years. Both with Traveland from S Wales and Eavesway. We would never revert to driving down to Southampton. No hassle with driving, traffic etc and luggage taken care of. It's a no brainer . Anyway, whatever you choose, enjoy Sent from my SM-J500FN using Forums mobile app
Jules. Posted January 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2017 I've used the coach service many times & I find it a stress-free way to travel the long distance to Southampton. I count the journey as part of my holiday!

We prefer to use Eavesway coaches as they have been providing the cruise service for a long time and are in constant touch with each other in case of any diversions/hold ups etc
UK Cruiser2 Posted January 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Probably not an option for you from where you live but we fly down from Newcastle. We fly the day before, stay in a nice hotel close the terminal so we can see the ships. Have a nice meal and a few drinks in the evening. Wake relaxed, have breakfast then weather permitting go for a walk to see the cruise ships or stroll around locally. After returning to the hotel to collect our luggage then head to the ship for the start of the cruise and we haven't been awake since the early hours.
