Has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort Galveston on the beach? If so what were your thoughts?

ANYONE? The reviews are mixed and I was looking for first hand experience.

Has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort Galveston on the beach? If so what were your thoughts?

We stayed there in 2012. Hotel was good, rooms were clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Location for last minute shopping and going into Galveston was not the best. You had to take a taxi which is not necessarily a bad thing.

thank you ce cruise. normally stay at Hilton however it was booked. i understand Hilton, San Luis and holiday inn are all owned y same entity. Shouldn't need to shop and i understand they have free shuttle within 10 mile radius.

We stayed there a few years ago. The hotel was nice but the highlight was the staff. They were all very friendly and helpful. I agree that there is not much shopping around there and restaurants also were limited. We did take the shuttle to Moody Gardens. Took taxi back since there was a wait for the shuttle.

At the time they had a sign up for the shuttle to the port in the morning. I think that cost something but it was not much.
