Myssk Posted February 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2017 My mother and I went to the South Pacific in Nov 2016 on the Emerald Princess and had a great time but my mum found it to be choppy and got a bit sea sick and queasy (mostly coming in and out of Sydney). We have just paid the deposit for another cruise, this time on the Sapphire Princess in South East Asia which leaves from Singapore on the 28th of Jan 2018. The countries we will visit are Singapore, Malaysia, Bali, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Are the sea conditions likely to be better/similar/worse? What were your experiences in this area of the world like?
Cruising Martina Posted February 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We cruised the same itinerary last month and the seas were the calmest I have ever come across! We were on Diamond Princess and it hardly felt like the ship was moving at times! You will have a fantastic trip! CruisinSinceAge5 Posted February 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2017 We just cruised Singapore to Hong Kong for 16 days in February and on 2 of the 4 days at sea it was quite choppy. I’ve taken 48 cruises and I’m rarely bothered by choppy seas and this time found that going to bed early and lounging in the morning was a plus to deal with it. I think it’s just luck. Be sure and get a midship stateroom.
Tranquility Base Posted February 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2017 I had 16 days on Diamond this month; similar itinerary except for Bali. We had one or two days where the seas were a bit sporty for some onboard. If I recall it was either on the way to Kota Kinabalu or leaving there. We had two out of our three tender ports cancelled due to weather. ( Nha Trang and Sihanoukville )
