Sweet Honey Bee Posted November 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2005 Can anyone tell me at which port in the Los Angeles area Oceania docks?
stebul Posted November 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2005 Oceania uses the Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Center in San Pedro, as do all other cruise lines except Carnival. Carnival owns their terminal in Long Beach by the Queen Mary, but other CCL-owned lines like Princess, Cunard, and P&O use San Pedro. http://www.portoflosangeles.org/facilities_wcc.htm Here is the operator's website, which has better information that the Port of Los Angeles's site: http://www.pcsterminals.com/
Sweet Honey Bee Posted November 12, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 12, 2005 Stebul - thanks so much for the information. It will help us in making our staying-in-LA-for-a-couple-days arrangements after the cruise.
Jancruz Posted November 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2005 Beverly Hills or the Marina are both fun places to stay when in LA.. Jan *****
Bruin Steve Posted November 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2005 Stebul - thanks so much for the information. It will help us in making our staying-in-LA-for-a-couple-days arrangements after the cruise. If you're staying here "a couple of days" post-cruise, which pier shouldn't really matter much... The only reason to tie your hotel to the pier is if it's a one-nighter pre-cruise and you're doing it for convenience sake... The two piers are a mere six miles apart...If you have no time to do anything but get from the airport to the hotel to the ship, then you stay near whichever pier your sailing from... If you have time to do more, you consider other options... I assume you fly OUT of LAX after the couple of days? LAX is 20 miles Northwest of Pedro... The real question is what you want to see or do during your time in LA... Take a cab or shuttle from the ship directly to wherever you want be (or, if you want to function like a local, get a shuttle to LAX and pick up a rental car, then drive to wherever you're staying--since our pubblic transportation is so bad, the best way to get around is by car...trust me)... If you want to shop Rodeo Drive, visit the Getty Museum, stroll the Venice Boardwalk, hang at the Third Street Promenade at night, etc., and if you want to stay in the "better" part of town, consider staying on the "West Side" (Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Century City, Westwood, etc.)...plenty of very nice hotels in all of those towns... If you want to visit Disney, you may want to stay in Anaheim and consider switching your flights to go out of John Wayne Airport... If you want to visit Hollywood and Universal Studios, stay in Universal City (Sheraton or Hilton)--don't stay in Hollywood--unless you know what you're getting into... NEVER stay in "Downtown" LA... But, there's really no reason to stick around in Pedro once you've left the ship... Good luck...
