alexmsupertramp Posted November 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2005 I've looked at the previous threads and have gained a lot of knowledge from all of you. My question is: Does anyone have any recommendations for Dive Operations on St Martin or St Thomas for two people who are going to do an open water referral? Many have mentioned places on St. Thomas. We will have to do dives 1 & 2 in St. Martin and 3 & 4 in St. Thomas. Sadly, we were unable to complete our certification this weekend due to high swells and poor visibility in Monterey, Ca. We sail next weekend on the Navigator. Thanks a lot.
bruce-r Posted November 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2005 Chris Sawyer in St. Thomas St. Maarten isn't known for it's fantastic diving, so I can't make a recommendation there.
travelbugs Posted November 13, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 13, 2005 Not sure how much time you have in St. Martin but there is a BEAUTIFUL dive site. You would have to catch the ferry over to SABA. Great diving, great operaters (and they even have a medical university and a hyperbaric chamber over there)! It's about a 30 minute boatride over. travelbugs Posted November 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2005 I have to follow myself up here...just found some paperwork. The boatride over to SABA is 1 hr. (on "The Edge") departs @ 0900 returns at 1700. There are 5 flights a day on "WINAIR" with a $5.00 departure tax. The contact we use for diving is SABA Deep Dive Center. John Huggins Posted December 22, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2005 St-Maarten has great diving spots, but some dive operator always choose the same spots, some other take more care of choosing the spot, according to weather conditions and diver's level. I dived with Scuba Fun www.Scubafun.Com those guy are great, safe, well organised, they have great boats and great equipment
