Carnival to Launch Cuba Cruises from Tampa in June

We are concerned about the additional expenses. We received our email today about a change in our itinerary to Cuba. We now must have passports, a visa and Cuba health insurance. Carnival is crediting us $100 each however it is $75 for the visa for us, a one time use, and an undisclosed amount for the required health insurance. Everything that you want to do in Cuba requires a signed affidavit. Not even sure what that states.

We can't change dates as this is when the grands are on school break. Hopefully we will have more information soon.

All the rest of our group will have to get passports. We already have ours.

Where I am excited to see Cuba as a choice, I'm concerned about all the added expenses and the travel affidavit.

The signed affidavit is just you declaring your purpose for travel. Apparently "tourists" aren't allowed to visit Cuba. There are 12 categories of authorized travel you must meet to enter the country.

1. Family visits

2. Official government business

3. Journalistic activity

4. Professional research & professional meetings

5. Educational activities ("people-to-people" exchange programs)

6. Religious activities

7. Public performances, clinics, workshops, competitions, & exhibitions

8. Support for the Cuban people

9. Humanitarian projects

10. Activities of private foundations or research or educational institutes

11. Exportation, importation, or transmission of information or informationmaterials

12. Certain authorized export transactions
