SetmySails Posted November 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2005 Posted this question yesterday but don't see it. I'm sailing the Sun in February and needed some suggestions for a 3 or 4 star hotel near the port in Miami. Do any of the hotels have shuttles to the ship or are taxi's the only option. Thanks. CrazyCanucks Posted November 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2005 My wife and I are staying in the Courtyard Miami Downtown by Marriott. We are not sure about the hotel as we have never stayed there before. With our booking we do get a shuttle to the ship though. If anyone has any reviews of this hotel, that would be great. TrentS Posted November 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2005 Courtyard downtown Miami is a decent budget hotel. It was a 1960's Howard Johnson's that was gutted and remodeled in 2003. The downtown hotels are all 5 minutes or so from the Port of Miami. Some as mentioned above have a package that includes a shuttle, but most do not, and check the price of those packages carefully. It's less than a $10 cab ride to the port with tip, in most cases those packages end up costing you more. None of the downtown hotels have "free" shuttles. Floflegs Posted November 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2005 We are staying in Miami Intercontinental West as part of our total Princess package which includes transfers
TrentS Posted November 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2005 I don't recommend Intercontinental WEST, only the Intercontinental DOWNTOWN as linked to above. The transfers you refer to are part of your Princess package from the UK, not something that the hotel does for anyone else. For some reason Princess puts their UK people in that hotel, but I don't know why except that they must have gotten a "deal". It's west of the Miami airport, not close to anything, and about 45-60 minutes from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale where Princess ships sail from. TrentS Posted November 15, 2005 #7 Share Posted November 15, 2005 Not a bad area, a few blocks north of downtown Coral Gables, but it's an old tired 1960's Holiday Inn. It's about 20-25 minutes from the Port of Miami.
