Beach information

The cabbie may have taken you up towards Tamerind Cove Hotel, which isn't really that close to Brighten or Paradise Beach.

 

The 3 beaches mentioned are not to far from the port, easy walking distance and ok for kids. Usually flat water, shallow water, but not much shade.. There is a beach bar, Weisers on the Bay near what I guess is considered Brighton Beach.

 

Paradise Beach is nice, but not sure how you get to it except going to a place called Batts Rock and it's all the way at the far end from the entrance. Nice Beach, not sure it's great for small kids.

 

You might want to consider the boatyard as the beach itself is flat gentle slope and the sea is also good there.
