Sequim88 Posted March 9, 2017 #26 Share Posted March 9, 2017 For obvious reason I zero in on Oosterdam reviews - thanks, very comprehensive covering all the points I'm interested in. No pillow spray in the room What's "pillow spray"? Is it a "just in suites" thing?

cruzincurt Posted March 11, 2017 #29 Share Posted March 11, 2017 We are going in a couple of weeks on a casino fare so I expect to spend some time in there every night. I hope the craps table is still there as it was removed from the Veendam last year . Did they have a Let it Ride table?
madera1 Posted March 11, 2017 #30 Share Posted March 11, 2017 We were on the same cruise. We were in a Signature Suite on the 8th floor. Our cabin stewards were quite visible throughout the week. They arranged on their own to get us a fan on the 3rd day as our room temp would not cool enough. They also arranged to get laundry sent out. We too had to go to the front desk twice due to bill not reflecting stock credit and drink charges when we had the free beverage package. In addition we were charged erroneously for our wine tasting as we are 4 star mariners and had noted that. We loved BBKings several nights and we liked the special BBC earth production. We too had late seating and agree that the wine steward was very efficient. I was surprised at how many empty tables there were almost every night in the MDR. We had no complaints about any of our meals. The Dive In was quite busy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
RenaeInCA Posted March 11, 2017 #31 Share Posted March 11, 2017 Thanks for the review! We are on the Oosterdam on the 31st. I was a little disappointed to hear about the wine...DH wants the regular beverage package, so I will be getting it as well. I usually drink wine, but mostly club soda, sparking water, and sodas during the day. So, I think I will just bring a few extra bottles of wine and pay the corkage rather than upgrade both of us to the elite beverage package. I hope the craps table is still there as it was removed from the Veendam last year . Did they have a Let it Ride table? I do not know if they had a let it ride table. There were about six or eight card tables but the only one i can swear to is the blackjack table. I do hope they keep the craps table since it was the main source of my gambling and evening entertainment. One thing was annoying: when I played blackjack they would give me free drinks. When playing craps they asked for my card. No big deal because I was on the drink package, but a little annoying given the amount of my place at dice. cruzincurt Posted March 11, 2017 #33 Share Posted March 11, 2017 Glad the craps table is still there. On the Veendam they took it out a put in a Pia Gow table that was never open. They said the ship was going to Australia and apparently no one plays craps there. I don't understand the screaming and yelling at a blackjack table when it pays even money. dee2673 Posted March 12, 2017 #34 Share Posted March 12, 2017 About the Internet. You said you had a package but your wife had to pay for hers. As I understand it, the packages only allows one device at a time. We just didn't use our phone and tablet at the same time. We had unlimited internet as a perk with our package. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Let me clarify. We both had an internet package. We had $100 each which gave us 250 minutes each. There was a problem with my wife not getting the $100 credit, but that was fixed with a visit to the front desk. cruzincurt Posted March 25, 2017 #36 Share Posted March 25, 2017 Was the WIFI service good with coverage in the cabins? Slow or fast? Is it worth getting? On the Veendam a year ago, service was poor. I did not try to download a movie, but email, facebook and reading the local paper on line was no problem. Cruizer Bill Posted March 25, 2017 #39 Share Posted March 25, 2017 Thanks much for your review! We were on the Oosterdam from Jan 13 to 27 and our room stewards were the best ever. Sounds like you were unlucky with that.
TAD2005 Posted March 25, 2017 #40 Share Posted March 25, 2017 We were on the Oosterdam for 21 days in November/December, 2016, (after the dry dock improvements) and the internet was sufficiently fast enough for Skype video calls, with no audio stuttering and solid, 2-way video. Worked very well. We paid $100 for the 250 minute package, and then another $55 for another 100 minutes.
