Blakely Hotel - New York

Having spent ages looking at possible hotels for our 2 nights pre-cruise we think we may have found something suitable - The Blakely Hotel (136 West 55th Street, formerly The Gorham Hotel). We need a room with 2 beds as we are 2 adults and 10 year old son which is limiting in some cases. This will be our first visit to NYC. Do you think this would be a good choice of hotel?

55th Street is close to Central Park.I'm looking at places on 42nd street (closer to Times Square). The last time in NY, we stayed at The Waldorf-Astoria (farther than the Blakely from Central Park), but we found we could walk everywhere. Transportation in NY is the best I've ever seen. The Blakely seems like a very nice place.
