My overall thoughts.

I loved our first cruise on the Breeze. It was a beautiful ship. It does need some cleaning, greasy fingerprints on the curtains in the Buffet area, some stained carpets. Nothing that ruined the cruise, but made sense that it was going in Dry dock later this year. Should be sparkly and clean after that. We did notice the last sea day it seemed the atrium and forward smelled like cigarette smoke, really bad. I figured it was a change in wind and coming from the casino/smoking decks, blowing its way through. Also near the end of the trip the 2nd floor had a sewer smell. But, again, nothing that ruined our trip. I've read comments about these issues on these boards before...but my take is..hey we are a small floating city, there are gonna be some lil issues that come up.

After our missed port to Grand Cayman, it seemed like all of a sudden there were more people on the ship. It seemed more busy and crowded. It was weird how it became more noticeable then....not but just me, but others too. No biggie tho....still big enough that it wasn't bad.

We were super excited to see Flick, only to find out that the 2 leads left in Jamaica and never came back, so they had to scramble to find something else. So we missed that show. I heard from numerous people they did not like the entertainment on the ship, they all had numerous other cruises to pull from as comparisons. My dh and I knew no different and were fine with what was available.

We went to the first show Monday night, can't remember the name and my Fun Times is at home. 88 Keys?? Possibly? It's one had Piano, singing, dancing and the laser show that's in the video.

We saw a comedian another evening, he was funny, PG...talked about the Trump wall, kids being lazy etc. Made me laugh...

We went to Clue the Mystery, but decided it was too much of a time commitment to do throughout the week, so didn't go to any others. Saw a few shows in the Thrill Theater. Watched Deep Water Horizon on Lido, that was fun....packed that night, but fun. Saw the last 10 minutes of another comedian, had to pack our stuff and set our suitcases outside the door so we missed most of his show. Heard he was great!

We did the 80's Name that song Trivia with CD Leigh...that was a blast. I even got video of a rockin' grandma. I gotta figure out how to post it. It was epic...she came out dancing with her walker and rockin' out to AC/DC. Best.Moment.Ever!! If I can figure out how to post, it is not to be missed!!

In place of Flick, they brought on a ventriloquist....he was funny...but the best part of his show was at the end when he made 3 audience members speak, his "Oooooohhhhh Yeaaaahhhhhhhh" that he made the teenage boy do was HILARIOUS!!

We also saw the Love and Marriage show.. hahahaha very funny!!

We watched the Ice Sculpture carving, had fun browsing the towel animal attack on Lido deck.

We spent a ton of time walking around and exploring the ship. A ton of time eating and chatting with our friends.

When they say you run into the same people on the ship, over and over, its true!! It's crazy weird....but you do see a handful of the same people everywhere you go!!

Food:

I loved eating in the MDR every chance we got. Breakfast and Dinner. We ate at Guy's a couple times and Pizza a couple time, which both were great in my opinion. We had Blue Iguana's breakfast burrito, I wasn't a fan. DH liked them ok. Never had tacos/burritos there for lunch. We had the Mongolian Wok, worth standing in line for and the omelet station, again worth the line. Both of those great. The chocolate buffet...ick, yuck, blech...nasty. Just give me a Melted chocolate cake.. ;p No one in our group cared for the chocolate buffet.

We had sandwiches in the buffet once, they were OK....lots of fruit. Couple ice cream/froyo cones a day, strawberry FroYo was my favorite! We loved their hot chocolate, would take one back to our room at night and sit on the balcony. Was just nice!

Overall...awesome first cruise!! Can't wait to go again. It will be the vacation of choice as long as we work for this City...it's truly the only way my husband can unplug and be unreachable. When the Mayor and Council emails him 9pm or later, going anywhere he has cell service, he will get those emails and be stressed. On a cruise... stress free!! The best part is being unplugged!! Now if I could just get him to move closer to an area with a port! Texas, Florida....jus'sayin'!! :D:')

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

(A couple months before we sailed, we found a Groupon for the Royal Dolphin Swim at Dolphin Discovery for much less, took the risk and purchased them. Hoping everything worked out in our favor! We weren't sure if we were got the buffet as part of it or not so budgeted as if we didn't)

I'm SO glad you posted about the dolphin encounter!! Your pictures are great; it looks like you had a blast! When you got the Groupon, how did you set up your appointment? Did you have to call prior to cruising or did you just grab a cab and head over when you made port? I was planning on stalking Groupon for a dolphin swim encounter as my cruise gets closer, I'm just oblivious of how to redeem it. :) Thank you!!

Thanks Aratski. Great review. I am taking my 7 and 12 year old daughters on the same cruise in July. Sounds like we were gonna do the same type of excursions. I was thinking Doctor Caves beach in Jamaica. I really wanted to do your dolphin tour. Not sure if my 7 year old would be allowed. Did you guys do the cheers program? Steakhouse? Sushi?Anyway. Thanks again. Awesome pictures.

Once the groupon was purchased, there were instruction on how to set up our appointment. We emailed the person it said to, and reserved a time slot with them. So it was set up the next day after I purchased the groupon. You just need to print everything as proof and for your records, for the just in case scenario. We did have to turn in a paper to Chankanaab upon checking in with them. But all the documents will tell you what needs to be done. We weren't sure our Royal Swim would include the buffet or not....but it did!

Once we got to Cozumel, we found the taxi's and paid for a cab ride to the park. Taxi's were like $17. The taxi's were sitting waiting to take us back to the pier when we were done. Easy peasy, and well worth it!!

Thanks!!

The kids that were part of our Royal Swim were young, you'll have to check on the age.

We do not drink, so nope on the Cheers program. We brought 2 12 packs of soda...1 coke and 1 diet coke. Worked out great.

We did not eat at Bonsai Sushi, nor did we dine at the Steakhouse. We are kinda cheapskates when it comes to money - hubby is an Engineer haha. The main dining room was sufficient for us. In fact, I had never had steak and eggs for breakfast. I have never wanted to pay for it! Ha...so that was a treat on Sea Brunch days having a filet and eggs...yum!!

Enjoy your trip!

We booked through Resort for a day. I would highly recommend paying cash when you get there. You'll get to the pool area at least 10 minutes earlier. It was $117 per person and I think we paid like a $53 deposit then the rest upon arrival.

Have a great cruise!

Hmmm. Devils cave beach is 20 min from the port in Montego Bay. Think it's 5 bucks to get in. You can get chairs , umbrella etc for a few bucks more. Nice little restaurants and shops right there.

Your resort looked nice. But do you think it's worth $117 each compared to a day on the beach for $30 to $40.

I guess it depends what you are going for! We didn't want a beach day & liked the looks of the resort, hence our reasons for choosing what we did! :)

I'm curious as to your comment about not being able to see Flick because the two leads apparently jumped ship in Jamaica. Did they actually announce that was the reason or was this "ship rumor"?

We were on the cruise before you (Feb. 12-19) and during our week they were switching over the production show cast. So we actually had half the shows performed by the old cast and half done by the new cast. The difference between the two casts was very noticeable. It almost felt like the new cast was unprepared and could have used a few more weeks of rehearsal. In the middle of the 88 Keys show they actually had to stop the show for about 10 minutes due to some technical and performance issues.

I'm wondering if they possibly didn't perform Flick for your sailing due to the new cast not being prepared enough to do the show. It seems weird to me that the lead performers would have jumped ship after only being on board for one week.

  • 2 weeks later...

We were on this same cruise & enjoyed it also. It was not a problem for us missing Grand Cayman we have been there several times & had nothing special planned for it. We were with the Elvis Tribute Artist group, 3rd. time we have done this and it is really fun. Kraig Parker is the tribute artist & he does a fantastic job. His manager is Charles Stone who was Elvis Presley's tour manager from 1970 until Elvis passed away in 1977.

We will be back on the Breeze 5-21-17 for our granddaughters wedding so we will get to see what they do to the breeze while she is in dry dock.

I actually got sun poisoning....oops...that made Cozumel kinda hard. I needed shade. I felt kinda yuck and my feet/calves were swelling and I had an itchy rash on my feet

OMGee, I got sun poisoning on my cruise to Cozumel. That was so painful! Never even knew sun poisoning existed until I got to Paradise Beach in Cozumel and this gentleman in the lounger next to me, said something about my leg and looking like sun poison, sure enough he was right. OUCH!
