Onboard Booking / Group Cruise Question

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if it is possible to book onboard for a future cruise in order to get the reduced deposit and OBC and then turn it into a group booking later on?

Or do all group bookings require the full down payment of $250pp immediately?

I spoke with group bookings department at RCI this morning but never understood what the person was telling me regarding booking onboard.

It's an easier sell to have everyone book while onboard the next cruise, pay the lesser deposit and get OBC than to tell everyone they need to pay $500 within 30 days to book a cruise that is over a year away.

Thanks for your help. We've done many cruises ourselves and I am the planner of the group. I am being asked to plan a group cruise to Alaska for 10 or so couples and thought at least if I did the group cruise I could get the tour conductor credit to pay for at least myself for all the work involved.

You can make the booking onboard, but as soon as the booking becomes part of the group, you must pay the full deposit. You will still keep the OBC from booking on board.

Bob,

In case of a price drop before final payment, is it handled the same way in a group?

This is for an Alaska cruise and they did tell me that if folks wanted to add on land tours before or after the cruise that was possible. So at least everyone can design their own vacation.

Thanks again for your quick response.

Yes, you can still get price drops before final payment date.
