Fishkillbill Posted April 3, 2017 #26 Share Posted April 3, 2017 We were on the Summit last October. We will be back on her on April 22. It was our first cruise. We ate at Blu every breakfast and dinner. This time we will be using the MDR and buffet. Breakfast was always good in Blu. I'm hoping it will be close in the MDR. For dinner, I think I had the standard steak almost every night. They were always very good. I would always order some fancy dinner item, with the steak as a backup. Don't forget, you can order whatever and how many items you want. We didn't know about the grill at the buffet. We may try it for dinner and see how the steak is from there. Snappykins Posted April 4, 2017 #27 Share Posted April 4, 2017 Great review. I'm interested in seeing the rest of the delicious food items you devoured during your stay on the Summit. My DH and 2 Teens are huge foodies. This is our first Celebrity cruise -- we are hoping Celebrity's food outclasses NCL, Carnival & RCCL.

meatloafsfan Posted April 4, 2017 Author #32 Share Posted April 4, 2017 My mother was too tired to go to dinner tonight so she stayed in the cabin to rest while my dad and I went to the dining room. I had some kind of salad. I believe it had goat cheese and asparagus in it which is why I ordered it though it felt like I was eating a lot of dandelion leaves. My dad had the shrimp cocktail and the wedge salad with thousand island dressing. We split an order of the turkey parmesan (it was okay) And I had the pasta with a cream sauce and prosciutto which was good. And my dad again had his steak

Snappykins Posted April 4, 2017 #34 Share Posted April 4, 2017 Thanks! Looks awesome. This was exactly the thread we've been looking for. There are so many people that post menus, but seeing the food really puts things in perspective.
meatloafsfan Posted April 7, 2017 Author #35 Share Posted April 7, 2017 So the next day was again the same coffee and pastries from Café Bacio. For an afternoon snack, I ordered pizza from room service. It is not traditional pizza - it's more like a flat bread pizza. I knew this from ordering in the past - I like this style as basically its some decent flat bread topped sauce with lots of cheese (and pepperoni). We also stopped in bacio for an afternoon treat: Chocolate mud pie Caramel cake And my dad popped up to the buffet to grab some fruit for my mom
meatloafsfan Posted April 7, 2017 Author #36 Share Posted April 7, 2017 For appetizers tonight we went with the French onion soup And to be honest - I don't know what this is - my dad ordered it and it was very different than the menu description because I know that he doesn't eat stuff like this. My guess is that the description said something about tomatoes and cucumber salad. For entrees, both my mom and I had the beef cheeks. They were excellent - very tender. My dad had his regular steak and by this time I was getting tired of taking pictures of the same thing so please just sub in one of the other 10 steak pictures you've already seen. Dessert was chocolate cake and whipped cream: And a vanilla cake I think this was the last time we ate dessert in the dining room - the options at café bacio were much more inspired and made with better ingredients. penaddict Posted April 7, 2017 #38 Share Posted April 7, 2017 I love that your dad is a creature of habit, as I am. Once you like something, you stick with it. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sent from my iPhone using Forums German chocolate cake, all the cookies, the lemon tarts and the raspberry cream cake. The best thing is that if you don't like your first choice, there's no cost to try something different. meatloafsfan Posted April 8, 2017 Author #40 Share Posted April 8, 2017 dinner was again in the dining room and are starters were: Salad with grapes, walnuts and apple (or maybe pear) And the waldorf salad (I love this - though the server added far too much dressing before I was able to say stop) My mother had the stuffed chicken for her entrée. This was very good - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and just loaded with cheesy goodness I ordered the port tenderloin with red cabbage. And my dad had both his normal steak and the slow roasted pot roast (good but not as good as the beef cheeks the night before).
meatloafsfan Posted April 8, 2017 Author #41 Share Posted April 8, 2017 For dessert we headed over to café bacio where my dad had 2 slices of the raspberry crème cake My mom had 1 piece of the cake And we tried one of the mini chocolate mousse which is like a really thick, rich icing cream. I had a piece of blueberry cheesecake and a couple of Dulce de louce éclairs (these were phenomenal and this was the only time we saw them there)
meatloafsfan Posted April 8, 2017 Author #42 Share Posted April 8, 2017 lunch the next day was in the buffet. It was a mixed bag of good and not so good. My mother had a lettuce-less salad (veggies, cheese and dressing) And she also had some red beans and rice, ham, and lamb I started with some orzo salad, cheese and a crusty bun - I ended up making the bun and cheese into a nice cheese sandwich. I also tried some fried chicken (way over done), lamb curry (it was bitter and grisly), and mashed potatoes. My dad had some mac n cheese and vegetables (peas and carrots) And then some mashed potatoes and slow cooked meat
meatloafsfan Posted April 8, 2017 Author #43 Share Posted April 8, 2017 Dinner tonight missed the mark - each item should have been great based on the description - they just didn't live up to our expectations. Spinach and artichoke dip - it was basically chunks of artichoke, surrounded by spinach - there really wasn't any "dip". My dad tried the shrimp and scallop cerviche - I think they just put a shrimp and a scallop in a glass and squeezed some lime on it. My mom had some kind of soup For entrees - I had a pasta with seafood and tomato juice - err, sauce. the pasta was over cooked. I ate the seafood pieces and left the rest. My dad likes mushy pasta so he had a bit of mine. My mom had the roasted chicken in mushroom sauce. It was okay and the best of the 3 entrees but was lacking anything to make this stand out. My dad had bbq brisket with beans and a corn muffin. My dad doesn't meet many cows he doesn't like but this was one of the few that died in vane. We skipped dessert and headed to the café again. meatloafsfan Posted April 8, 2017 Author #44 Share Posted April 8, 2017 So the last 2 days were days at sea which meant lunch in the dining room (yay). My dad ordered a "regular" salad - lettuce, tomato and cucumber. My mom ordered the whole wheat pasta with vegetables for lunch. She wanted something a little lighter and this fit the bill for her. My dad and I both had the ribs - these were very tasty and the fries were actually hot. The coleslaw was also good. My dad and I both had the brownie sundae for dessert (this was fantastic) While my mom had the rhubarb tart
MEcruzr Posted April 8, 2017 #45 Share Posted April 8, 2017 Thank you so much for doing this. I'll be on the Summit in two weeks and this is really helpful!! FYI for others, you can order a steamed vegetable platter to go with your entree. I find the veggies really lacking in many of the dishes. I tell the waiter on the first night that I would like steamed veggies every night, no matter what I order. It's always enough to share with the table. meatloafsfan Posted April 11, 2017 Author #46 Share Posted April 11, 2017 We didn't eat dinner in the dining room on the second to last night. I hurt my knee and we decided to just order room service - basically just repeats of what we'd ordered before. It was all very good and I really enjoyed the options. We had also asked our room steward for the dining room menu but there was nothing there that we were intent on ordering. Okay - last sea day coming up! Lunch was again in the dining room (repeated menu from day 1). We had the cheese sticks and a salad for appetizers And my dad and I both had a steak for lunch (I guess he missed his from the dining room last night). My mom had a hamburger And then for dessert we had the key lime pie and a strawberry cream cake
meatloafsfan Posted April 11, 2017 Author #47 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Appetizers on our last night were: Soup (sorry, by this point I have no idea what kind) And the spinach turnover And a salad
meatloafsfan Posted April 11, 2017 Author #48 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Entrees were the Steak Diane (phenomenal) Gnocchi (good but really rich) Turkey Dinner (surprisingly good) And one last steak for my dad Dessert was once again at Café Bacio
meatloafsfan Posted April 11, 2017 Author #49 Share Posted April 11, 2017 We had some time to kill before debarking and decided to head to the dining room for our first Celebrity breakfast of the cruise (other than from Bacio). Sliced melon And the fruit plate (surprising similar to the sliced melon) Waffles: Cottage cheese And an Omelet And that's all of our dining! I hope that this helps someone decide on what to order or to help someone be adventurous and branch out and try something they wouldn't. Happy eating everyone! Wondering if it was the cooked (cotto) or raw (crudo) in the salad. Thanks! And thank you for taking the time to share all of these pics. We are about to go on a TA to Rome.
