Formal Night on 5 day cruise

After taking plenty of longer, more cruises as a couple, we are finally taking our 5 young kids with us on a 5-day Carnival cruise (to see if we all survive the experience!) I know there is one formal night but do passengers really dress up to the hilt? With a 5 month old in tow, I'm not too interested in wearing a formal gown. Would a dressy pair of pants and glittery camisole top be OK? As for my young boys kids, a nice pair of dress pants and a short sleeve button down shirt (with their sneakers, I can't pack too much) - would that be OK? Please click to respond to my email address as well. Thanks so much!

Five-nighters are no less formal than longer cruises. Formal night will be your second night on board, and you'll see everything from church dresses to full-length sequined gowns. What you described for yourself sounds ok. I'd put a little tie on the boys. (They'd probably enjoy looking more 'grownup', too.):)

I agree with Cotton.........I've done a five nighter and it was pretty nice as you only get one chance to dress up.;)
