Extended Stay America

Has anyone ever stayed in the Extended Stay America Hotel lcoated at 1450 SE 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale. I understand that just about any hotel located on or around 17th Street is a good choice but I would like to get some first hand info if possible. I've never been to Fort Lauderdale before so I would also like to get info on some good restaurants in the immediate area.

I know that Trent & Bequia will probably confirm that is a good choice. All the Extended Stay America hotels are the same, as far as layout and decor/style, etc. We stayed at one in Illinois when visiting my in-laws and it was SOOOO spacious. Very basic, as far as hotel amenities go, but it did have a kitchenette with dishes, pots & pans, etc...not that we needed it, but would be nice for a longer stay.

That Extended Stay America is a GREAT choice for a budget hotel. It's not very old, very clean, less than 10 minutes from FLL and a block from the entrance to Port Everglades. If you do a search for it on here you'll find some reviews/comments from satisfied guests.

 

As for restaurants in the area. It's in the middle of it all, there are dozens of restaurants within easy walking distance...

Carlos and Pepe's (Mexican) & Durty Harry's (bar with food) are in the same shopping center as Tara. There's also a small diner in that strip mall that I've been told has an excellent breakfast.

Kelly's Landing is an excellent New England style seafood place in a strip mall on Cordova Road, across the street from Winn-Dixie.

 

If you want some great ice cream, Aspen Ice Cream is in the large yellow strip mall across the street from Tara and Carlos and Pepe's... http://www.aspenicecream.com/

 

There are 3 large strip malls around Extended Stay America - Across the street, next door, and behind, as well as several smaller ones. There are at least a dozen other small restaurants scattered throughout those strip malls, plus a number of fast food and carry-out places in the area as well... You'll never go hungry along that section of SE 17th Street, there's something for every taste and budget.

 

Those are just the ones that you can easily walk to, if you take the Water Taxi you can easily get to dozens more. The nearest Water Taxi stop is 2 long blocks east, under the SE 17th Street Bridge, in front of the Marina Marriott... http://www.watertaxi.com/FortLauderdale/FLLHome.Asp
