New to RCL - Dining Options Adventure of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We are sailing on Adventure of the Seas at the end of the year. This will be out first RCL cruise. We have cruised several times in the past with NCL because of the freestyle dining. My question is are there complimentary restaurants like on NCL we can go to? I didn't book a sit down dinner time but I am wondering if we should have. If we don't do the formal dining do we have to eat at the buffet every night?

Thanks for all your help.

Jasmine

Dining options include the Main Dining Room (MDR) which is complementary. The MDR offers Traditional fixed time seating, or My Time Dining where you can dine anytime. Both Traditional and My Time dining are in the same Main Dining Room with the same menu and suggested dress. Since you're coming from NCL, note that shorts are not recommended for dinner in the MDR or Specialty Restaurants although enforcement of any suggested dress on Royal is practically non-existent!

There are also Specialty Restaurants with a premium charge of about $35pp, including Chops (steakhouse) and Giovanni's Table (Italian). These offer a quiet, more personalized dining experience and the food is generally considered better than the MDR. The Windjammer Buffet is another option for dinner and is always casual dress.

We are just off a 10 days sailing of the Adventure of the Seas. On our first night in the Main Dining Room it was announced that for the following nights for dinner that shorts would not be permitted. This announcement was a first for me on my past 6 sailings with Royal Caribbean.

There is also a Johnny Rockets aboard the Adventure of the Seas that charges $6.95 for a meal. But you can have as much food as you want. Burgers, fries, onion rings, ice cream sunday's. Also, their shakes are very good.

I know shakes are extra, but are the ice cream sundaes included in the $6.95 fee?
