Carry on luggage inspection at pier?

Is there an inspection of carry on luggage at the pier before embarking? I have heard many conflicting reports on this (pertaining to a couple bottles of booze for personal consumption):) . We are going Carnival out of Ft. Lauderdale. Thanks for any info.

You are allowed to bring wine and champagne without any trouble. You can also bring bottled water and soda. They will not allow you to bring beer or hard liquor. Some people have put them in their checked luggage and never had a problem. I did hear somewhere that if the bottles have a metal cap they know you have alcohol in your suitcase. I am pretty sure Captain Morgan usually has a plastic cap though! ;) Anyway, lots of people smuggle and they still end up spending a lot of money on alcohol as you can't really carry your own drinks into the dining room. I'm thinking about bringing a bottle of wine for consumption in my cabin before dinner, but not sure yet.

Good Luck!
