bbabe Posted November 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2005 Is there an inspection of carry on luggage at the pier before embarking? I have heard many conflicting reports on this (pertaining to a couple bottles of booze for personal consumption):) . We are going Carnival out of Ft. Lauderdale. Thanks for any info. tef43 Posted November 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2005 Carry-on bags are subject to an xray scan similar to that at the airport.
Cotton Posted November 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2005 Wrap your booze well and put into your checked luggage. You'll have a far better chance of it not being seen (and confiscated).
candigirl41 Posted November 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2005 I took a rolling cooler on one time with 4 bottles of wine, when it was x-rayed they asked what was in it. I told them wine and champagne and they just pulled it out made sure that was what it was and said have a nice cruise. Candi
jayzee Posted November 21, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 21, 2005 You are allowed to bring wine and champagne without any trouble. You can also bring bottled water and soda. They will not allow you to bring beer or hard liquor. Some people have put them in their checked luggage and never had a problem. I did hear somewhere that if the bottles have a metal cap they know you have alcohol in your suitcase. I am pretty sure Captain Morgan usually has a plastic cap though! ;) Anyway, lots of people smuggle and they still end up spending a lot of money on alcohol as you can't really carry your own drinks into the dining room. I'm thinking about bringing a bottle of wine for consumption in my cabin before dinner, but not sure yet. Good Luck!
