Rangervr6178 Posted November 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2005 Just got a call from Celebrity and now the Millennium is sailing to Nassau, Bahamas on the previously scheduled 2night cruse to nowhere. We will be in Nassau from 8am-5pm! Anyone think this might have something to do with the late dry dock?
ocngypz Posted November 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2005 HUH?? It's always been in the rez system as Nassau. I don't know what they are talking about. Has nothing to do with the drydock in Europe. Only the transat was effected by the change in facility.
c-legs Posted November 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2005 :) Hi, The always scheduled''' 2 nights cruise to nowhere''' has now been renamed specifically as '' 2 nights cruise to Nassau '''. It's still a '' 2 nights cruise''. The recently completed drydock led to 2 days being chopped off her transat......Celebrity could have taken the perhaps easier road to simply cancel the '' 2 nights cruise to nowhere''.....but it's not rare to see cruise lines do this sort of short cruises right ( or very close to )after a major refit/refub drydock, as this sequence is frequently tied with a fairly massive crew changeover....best introduced to their new ship with a '' quick cruise'' before the start of regular operations for their 6 or 8 months contract. IMO anyways Cheers CG ;)

I don't know what you are talking about either. This cruise has always been a 2 night cruise to nowhere. Now it stops at Nassau. The change was made about 2 weeks ago. chessbriar Posted November 22, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2005 It probably has to do with the Jones Act the the fines that would be imposed on X. They probably couldn't find a port to take them when they originally created the schedule or the port charges would amount to more than the fine. IF either case changes, it would be a good reason to switch.
flashdog_1 Posted November 22, 2005 #6 Share Posted November 22, 2005 That makes perfect sense! On another thread we'd been discussing why the new destination may have occurred. Wish I'd thought of the Jones act. I'll run over to that board now and tell them!
