Mlascheid Posted November 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2005 Are there any beaches within easy walking distance from where you get off the tenders in Grand Cayman?
TheWog Posted November 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2005 Not really within walking distance. I would recommend getting a taxi. Not a far ride and not too expensive.
mlrdking Posted November 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2005 You CAN snorkel near the Tender dock. As the tender approaches the pier, look to the right. About a block down the street is a restarant with a red roof. I don't remember the name. There are stairs to get down to the water. That being said, there is not a lot to see. There are some fish and some coral and that is about all. But, You can't beat the price. It's free.
Mlascheid Posted November 23, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted November 23, 2005 Thanks for the info. What would be the names of the beaches closest to where the tenders dock?
ilv2trvl Posted November 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2005 Mlascheid, The closest beach that I would consider worth visiting is Royal Palms. The restaurant area is pretty nice but the beach is not very deep and was pretty rocky the last time I was there. The next closest is Beach Club but it's always crowded with pre sold guests. Then you have The Public Beach (Nice & wide) but they don't have hardly any facilities. Right next door to The Public Beach is Sea Grape Beach and a little further down is what used to be the Holiday Inn Beach (I think it's a Marriott now). We've been to Sea Grape Beach and really liked it!. I've seen a lot of posts about it lately and most people say it's still one of the nicest beaches to go to. Not sure about the Marriott, but it was on the same stretch as Sea Grape so it couldn't be too bad. I searched seagrapebeach and found a web site. It wasn't there a month ago and it looks like it's not finished yet. No photo gallery but there are a couple of photos on the site. Let's hope they get more info on it in the future... The site is seagrapebeach.com It's about a 10-15 minute taxi ride and about the same cost whichever beach you go to but it is probably worth the extra couple of bucks to go to the nicest spots on 7 Mile Beach. Hope this helps
