Assistance Pls with Pre/Post Cruise Stays in LA

My parents who are in their early 70s, are flying to LA for a Hawaiian Cruise in September. Due to the long flight from Aus they intend to spend 3 or so days post and pre cruise in LA.

Would anyone be kind enough to suggest the areas which might be most convenient eg Downtown or West Hollywood near the port etc..

I thought maybe West Hollywood prior, with Longbeach post. They have suggested downtown maybe more suitable. They are happy to stay in the one location pre and post because of the familiarity on the post side.

Dad is virtually blind, so close to transport and other amenities etc would make it easier.

We've stayed twice at the Sheraton LA Harbor which is actually in San Pedro for a pre-cruise. Both times we've enjoyed the hotel, especially the last time in April 2004 as the staff was helpful and very pleasant. They have a free shuttle to the pier which is only about 5 minutes away. There's a restaurant on site which might be helpful for your dad, but there are many others nearby.

Catdancers, thanks is there much to do in and around San Pedro? At this stage they will have 3 days prior to the cruise and after the cruise.
