smccarthy123 Posted May 23, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted May 23, 2017 Well I finally got through to the office on the phone. (I was calling from a VOIP line before and it would not complete the call - it kept saying it was a pay-per-minute line - I figured the phone number was confused with some porno service ! - The call worked fine from a regular land line) Anyway - in case anyone wants to know - they say they will come out to the cruise ships and get the person with a reservation if there are enough people in the office. So no guarantees.
pkonoske Posted May 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2017 We had a good experience last week with a car rental with Alaska Coach Tours. While they are focused on packaged tours, they do have vehicle available for rent. During our visit Avis was only open until 3 p.m. and required the vehicle returned before then; but since our time in port started at 11 a.m., so I looked for an alternative. Alex with Alaska Coach Tours was very helpful and arranged to drop the vehicle off (with the paperwork) near our ship and provided a GPS with destinations already saved to it. As for drop off, we were free to until late into the evening and only had to park the car in the same parking lot, with a quick call to let her know we were done. I'd say it's worth calling Alaska Coach Tours to compare prices but, regardless of price, the service was excellent and trouble free. (She was very responsive via email and phone, though this was not peak season.)
