Chops/Portofinos Adults Only?

Recommended Posts

Here is the info direct from the RCCL website.

All guests over the age of 13 are welcome and reservations are recommended; please allow two hours for dining. To make a reservation, use the main menu screen on the TV in your stateroom or call the restaurant directly. Telephone numbers can be found in your stateroom. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged a minimum of $10 USD.

Perhaps you could accompany your son to the Windjammer while he eats an early dinner, then he could attend an Adventure Ocean activity in the evening while the adults enjoy fine dining if you really want to experience one of the specialty restaurants.

DH and I love Portofino's, but I doubt we'll take the boys there on our upcoming Explorer cruise. When we took them on the Sovereign, they loved the formal dining in the main dining room. And I loved their being able to try a couple of appetizers or entrees (these guys are 14-18 and 6'2" - 6'5"... they can eat!) and not have to worry about it. They all have suits for formal night, and shirt/slacks combos to wear on the other nights, and we'll save Portofino's for our next couples cruise. It has nothing to do with behavior. I just think that the main dining room has a lot to offer for the younger folks, including waiters who start to share stories from home, etc., after a few nights.
