MintyOzzy Posted May 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2017 (edited) Hey there Does anyone know if a Disney shuttle operates from the port parking to the ship when it departs from Dover? Thanks! Ps sorry title should read '2018' as we sail August 2018. Edited May 29, 2017 by MintyOzzy wrong sailing year
moki'smommy Posted May 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2017 Yes, there is a shuttle bus and the parking is right next to the terminals. I think it is operated by the port, not by DCL. This info is current as of last week. http://www.doverport.co.uk/cruise/car-parking/
MintyOzzy Posted May 30, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted May 30, 2017 Hey moki'smommy 😃 Thanks a million for the info - that is good to know 😃😃 Have you sailed from Dover? Am hoping they have Disney characters in the embarkation lounge as they do with the Florida ports 😃

There could have been but I probably didn' t look for them.
aln_wag Posted May 30, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2017 We sailed from Dover in 2015. In terms of parking the official port parking was basically at the end of the quay so we just walked down but there was a little minibus. Whilst we were waiting to board there were a couple of meet and greets. Captain mickey was one as we had a picture. Can't recall who else. moki'smommy Posted May 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 30, 2017 Yes, we have sailed from Dover. I didn't see any characters, but we were in a very early boarding group so they may have come out later. The port isn't fancy in any way, but was very friendly.
MintyOzzy Posted May 31, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted May 31, 2017 Thanks everyone 😃 Good to know it isn't far from the car park to the ship 👍😃 and guess we will have to wait and see re meet & greet next August but am sure the meet & greets on board will make up for it 😃😃
moki'smommy Posted May 31, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2017 You will have tons of meet and greets on board. Actually the ones in the terminal tend to be quite crowded and not nearly as pleasant as those on the ship. Be sure to sign up in advance for Frozen, the Princess Gathering, and any others that offer advance sign up (a few cruises have more, most do not). These are the best because you must have the ticket and show up on time to be allowed in line. Thus, you have short lines and sufficient time with the characters without feeling rushed. You will want to book right at the 75 day mark; the longer you wait, the less chance of getting things you want. If you don't find something initially, keep checking back. People do cancel things, although not usually "free ticket" events. And remember that things on DCL can literally change from one cruise to the next. A year from now, some things will be different than now....although the 75 day booking has been firm for many years. It is the small details and things in kid programming that change a lot. There are much better vlogs and videos out there--the one you mentioned is supposedly a travel agent making money off her videos and breaking ship rules in making some of them (filming noisily in halls after "quiet hours" for instance.) MintyOzzy Posted June 1, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Ooops sorry meant 75 days 🙈 Am aware that many will have access to prebook a lot earlier than that though 😕 Will keep checking nearer the time - thanks! 😃
