jdcml Posted January 4, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2020 Life360 uses satellite as opposed to a live feed. Your location would show as a spot in the middle of the water from the historical picture which wouldn’t include the ship. Also, GPS doesn’t account for height in its calculations. There would be no way of knowing a specific deck. Similar to being in a parking garage or building, it just shows the structure, not the level that the person is on. That’s what I was kind of thinking as well. Appreciate the fast answer!! I’m just concerned about my teenage daughter on our cruise. I don’t plan on letting her far from my sight but also want her to enjoy vacation without her mother constantly over her shoulder!! Thanks again! The chat/text feature on the Hub app may help you stay connected and more comfortable. $5/person and you can text message each other. Sometimes they can be a little delayed but all in all it has been helpful for staying in touch.

I do like to view our GPS location in relation to our next port. I'll download some map areas on the Google Maps app which allows you to view them without an internet connection. The GPS receiver on most smartphones these days works without any type of data connection. I'll also use this method to download some maps of the surrounding area at our port of calls in case we want to wander around. If you plan on buying one of the internet plans anyway, you can also use texting apps. The cheapest plan, Social, allows access to social media and popular messaging apps, like facebook messenger, whatsapp, & snapchat. If you use iPhones, Carnival doesn't technically support iMessages on the Social plan, but many report that it does work. iMessages definitely work on the middle-tier plan, Value. That plan gives you access to everything the first one does, plus email and most other websites. And is supposed to be a little faster, but that depends on the ship. If you do choose to use the chat feature of the Carnival Hub app, be sure to leave the app running in the background. If you close it, you won't get new messages until you open it again.
