idcruisers Posted June 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2017 Does anyone know if there will be a shuttle from where the Koningsdam is docked to the Cathedral in Trondheim? Thanks in advance.
highland cruiser Posted June 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2017 We were there on the Rotterdam June 1. There was no shuttle from where the Rotterdam docked which was just right in town. Just had to go over a walkway. We were very close to the train statin. We walked into town to the Cathedral. Weather was awful and we needed umbrellas. Hope you have better weather. The Nidaros Cathedral and museums are awesome. Buy the ticket for all 3. There are complimentary tours inside the Cathedral so be sure and ask when they are when you go it. Spent quite a bit of time in all three...great restrooms also and at no cost!! We left before the ship's tours so none of the places were crowded at all. The information center in town has great complimentary wifi and maps of the city. Enjoy.
jakkojakko Posted June 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 27, 2017 There is no shuttlebus and it is quite a walknto the cathedral if you are mobility challenged. However you can take a taxi from the dock to the church and back.

Rare Vict0riann Posted June 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2017 IIRC, (and my memory ain't what it used to be - but then, it never was!), the HOHO bus stopped very near where the ship docked. The route was interesting, and of course, we got off at the Cathedral. I think that was the first Cathedral ever where we had to buy tickets! Since then, we have encountered others, but it was a bit of a shock.
Gnoelj Posted June 27, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2017 Does anyone know if there will be a shuttle from where the Koningsdam is docked to the Cathedral in Trondheim? Thanks in advance. There is no shuttle bus. When you get off the Koningsdam, you walk on a raised bridge that crossed over the railways past Trondheim Central Station. Then, just walk a few blocks and you will get there. It depends on how fast you walk of course, but generally, you can get there in around 15-20 mins.. Central Trondheim is a relatively small place and it seems to have a grid road system, so it is easy to get around. The Cathedral dominates the town so much that it is hard for you to miss it. Besides, if you just follow other crowds of Koningsdam passengers, most of whom would probably be heading towards the Cathedral, you will know you are going in the right direction! Once you get there, you have to queue in a modern annex to buy your tickets before you can get into the Cathedral. Almost soon as you get off the ship, you will be given free city maps. Just take a look in it and you will find where the Cathedral is located. There is also a tourist information kiosk at the queue side. Like most of Norway, the weather is so unpredictable (on our HAL cruise last week, there weather was not too great) . It is easy to walk to Trondheim Cathedral if it is a nice sunny day, but in the rain, that is quite a different matter. Our morning in Trondheim was one of those when the sun actually came out, but by the time we got back to the ship, it started to rain!
