If you're looking for a driver/guide, we used the legendary Spiros of *****. He turned out to have another commitment that day (an experience shared by other cruisers) so he sent one of his "associates" to pick us up. We were satisfied with the replacement driver, who took us everywhere we wanted and who was an outstanding tour guide. He wasn't able to walk us into the Acropolis and show us around, but he told us enough information in the cab to prepare us. George of www.greecetravel.com was also recommended to us, but Spiros was willing to give us a significant break in price since we had booked during the off-season.

 

If you want a guide for a walking tour of the Acropolis (or a walking tour of Athens), we used Maria Skiniti whom we had met during the 2004 Olympics. Her English skills are excellent, and she's very personable. You can reach her at mskiniti@hol.gr regarding her availability and rates.

We were in Athens last month and used Jimmy Naplis for the day. He was very professional, picked us up at the Marriott as scheduled. Jimmy is an extremely well versed Athens guide and I would highly recommend his services.
