Understand the Golden is going into dry dock for some refurbishing...would like any feedback on this ship. Will be our first time on Princess..we are celebrity cruisers but it's the itinerary we like.

I believe that she's scheduled for a drydock in March/April 2018...

I've sailed on the Golden many times. She's a good ship.

Thanks...glad to hear as reviews have not been favorable.

Always take reviews with a grain of salt. Many folks are quick to give negative reviews, but won't write a review when they've had a good time.

Go for it:)

I noticed on my drink package options they have a premium one for $7 and another one for $8. What is the difference between the two? I looked into the ultimate one for like $60 but I don't drink enough to make that worth it! I'm assuming that normal coffee is included for free?

For the formal nights, if my dad and brother wore slacks with a long sleeve button with tie, would that be acceptable? We have no problem dining elsewhere on those nights if a tux is required. We are getting mixed reports (will be on an Alaskan cruise)

We have inside rooms booked. Is there enough deck space/chairs to catch the sights?

I read about the movie nights. Assuming the weather is okay, how often do those play? Do they have trivia, bingo, etc sessions? We don't gamble much so I'm not sure how much we would use the casino.

We have anytime dining booked, do we go to just one dining room for that or is there a rotation?

Thanks for taking the time to answer these! I'm sure I'll think of others!

Drinks Package: sorry can't help with this as didn't buy one.

Formal Nights: what you suggest sounds more than suitable:)

Deck space/chairs: heaps of deck space and chairs although there are I believe always some 'deck chair hoggers' who put a towel on a deck chair to make it look like they're coming right back, but in reality they're down in the buffet!:)

Movies Under The Stars (MUTS) to be honest I didn't take too much notice how many movies they were playing my first cruise was only four nights and I'm pretty sure there were at least two?

Trivia/Bingo - regular opportunities for both. I did play bingo with a friend but I thought it was quite expensive - I guess I'm just not really a gambler!

Anytime dining - anytime will be in one dining room - Bernini if I recall, deck 5.

There are lots of people who will know far, far more than I do who I am sure will be happy to help as well.

I think (just like any experience) it's what we make of it that counts. There will always be bad reviews and there will always be good reviews - I think there's been a mixed bag for Golden Princess but all I can say is I loved her (and as I mentioned, I will be cruising again on her in January), and I recall one couple on the cruise who said they go wherever Golden Princess is going. In other words, it's all about the ship for them not necessarily the itinerary, which I thought was interesting:)

Thank you so much! Looking forward to the trip...only 11 months left for this Florida resident to buy appropriate clothing for Alaska!

Forgot to add; I was completely blown away by the level of service we received. We were in a suite, but we had a couple of friends in an inside stateroom and another couple of friends in a balcony stateroom; and all said the same thing - they were all impressed with the service:)
