early debarking, Liberty

I am a little confused. I have been reading that you can be in the first group to leave the ship but you have to carry your own bags. Thats not a problem but I thought customs went through your bags or at least scanned them before you could leave the ship. Thanks for any info. I have a 12:30 flight out of Fort Lauderdale and should make it in plenty of time but I still would like to be off as early as possible.

On the Liberty, you were able to be the first off the ship if you had a flight before Noon. You did not have to carry your own luggage off the ship. With a 12:30pm departure, you will not be able to get off early. We had a 1:00pm departure and our color was called at 10:45am. We were off the ship quickly and got our luggage and a taxi fast. Get a luggage prter to transport your bags and get you a taxi--it will be faster that way.
