Amtrac Posted July 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2017 What documents are required or are necessary to visit the different ports? Is a passport necessary or suggested? Once signed on your sea pass card gets you off and back on ship. Some ports require license or passport to get back on. This procedure is not always enforced so bring docs regardless. reallyhooked Posted July 5, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2017 What documents are required or are necessary to visit the different ports? Is a passport necessary or suggested? Just photo ID & Sea pass. The compass will have notice.
Clarea Posted July 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2017 What documents are required or are necessary to visit the different ports? Is a passport necessary or suggested? Depends on the ports. On a a closed end cruise out of a US port, a passport is not required. A natural born US citizen can use a certified copy of their birth certificate and a government issued photo ID. However, if there is a problem and you need to fly back to the US from a foreign country, a passport will be necessary. Some excursions do require a passport. Two come to mind: certain excursions to British Tortola and Canada require passports.

Spurschick Posted July 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 5, 2017 From experience, when they say photo ID required we have only occasionally been asked for it. As such we take photo copies of our passport page and never had an issue with that. It reduces the risk of it being stolen, lost or damaged especially if doing a beach/ water type excursion. Some port securities just want to see a picture with a name that matches the sea pass card as you come back into port. If doing an excursion that states passport required then original documentation would be required.
easyboy Posted July 5, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 5, 2017 Leaving out of Galveston, Ports are Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. We are US citizens. Passport not necessary to bring in those ports. Just your sail card and gov't-issued photo ID. Leave your passport in the cabin safe. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Forums mobile app
