Cruiseoholic000 Posted July 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2017 I am going on a Viking cruise from Amsterdam to Basel and will be using Viking air. I think going from Boston Amsterdam I can have a direct flight. I was wondering from Basel to New England is there a direct flight with Viking air? Maybe Zurich? alexkrn46 Posted July 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2017 For $50 per person you can choose your flights, when we went there were no direct flights from Boston had to connect in Paris.

Bake apple Posted July 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2017 Hi, we used the Viking Air option for our Avignon to Lyon cruise in May. For $50 per passenger I worked with the Viking Air agent to get the carrier we preferred, which was Air Canada, and the routing we thought worked best for us. (BTW: Viking will also select the flights for you if you choose not to take the $50 option). It worked well for us as we travelled from Ottawa to Frankfurt and then on to Marseille, return from Lyon was Frankfurt directly to Ottawa. Sounds a bit convoluted I know but these actually were the shortest routes for us and I earned a pile of Air Canada frequent flyer miles. I believe Delta has a direct overnight flight from Boston to Amsterdam. Hope this helps a little. Enjoy your cruise!
Bake apple Posted July 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2017 Sorry, forgot to add that I think you can return: Basel-Amsterdam-Boston or Basel-Paris-Boston but Viking Air will help sort it out with you until you are pleased with the result. tjb19841987 Posted July 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2017 There are no direct flights from the Basel airport to anywhere in the U.S. We connected through Frankfurt while some others connected through Munich or Paris. The Zurich airport is over an hour away, so I wouldn't think that Viking would provide included (free) transfers from port to Zurich unless there was some compelling reason why the Basel airport wouldn't work (unlike Passau, where the nearest airport is Munich at two hours from port). I don't know that for certain, though, and am confident you would be able to explore those options if you opted to use Air Plus. If Viking ends up providing you with a more desirable route (and includes transfers to Zurich), please come back and let us know!
