What do you usually wear the first night on a ship? This will be the Mexican Rivera cruise in December . Is it ok to wear jeans?

Personally, I do not wear jeans any night on a ship. On the first night, I often choose a pair of nice black slacks and a pretty top.

It depends on the line and where you plan to eat dinner. Many lines have a policy against allowing jeans in the dining room, although enforcement is spotty at best. If you're leaving out of LA, there will be a lot of people in jeans every night. I don't wear them because they're heavy and I don't want any more weight in my luggage than is absolutely necessary. Also, I like dressing up a bit for dinner on a cruise, since I seldom do so anywhere else.

Whatever you wear it should be in your carry-on....I do not wear jeans on a cruise either. For the first night I usually have a nice pair of capris and a sweater set. Easy to pack and you can't go wrong. Yes you will see jeans, but I don't wear them on a cruise and neither does hubby. I think the first nite is a little loose on the clothing, so you will see a lot of different clothing.
