Nurse 3D Posted August 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2017 We will be in Rome 2 days pre and post cruise. Unfortunately, one of the days is Monday, any suggestions for day trips? Sent from my TM101A620M using Forums mobile app
ColinIllinois Posted August 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2017 You'll want to check out the Italy ports of call forum. Lots and lots of threads that you will find very helpful for excursions. pete_coach Posted August 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2017 Don't know if you have ever been to Rome before but you can easily take all your time in Rome itself. If you really do want day trip, you can be in Florence in 1 1/2 hrs by train. There are many options and opportunities. Here is a link, not for advertisement but for possibilities. If CC does not like me adding the link just go to www dot viator dot com and type in Rome https://www.viator.com/Rome/d511-ttd#%7B%22listSpec%22%3A%7B%22sortBy%22%3A%22RANK%22%2C%22layout%22%3A%22grid%22%7D%2C%22filterSpec%22%3A%7B%22selections%22%3A%5B%7B%22name%22%3A%22groupId%22%2C%22value%22%3A%225%22%7D%5D%2C%22availabilityRange%22%3A%7B%22from%22%3A%22%22%2C%22to%22%3A%22%22%7D%7D%2C%22currency%22%3A%22USD%22%2C%22destinationId%22%3A%22511%22%7D
kanobette Posted August 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2017 The village of Orvieto is an hour train ride away. It is a lovely peaceful getaway from hectic Rome. From the train you take the funicular up to the top for the village and then can just walk around and have a nice lunch.
4Suzyq Posted August 30, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2017 We took an olive oil tour this summer. It was a day trip and very interesting. Gave us a chance to see life outside the city, learn more about something we use everyday, and enjoy the tastes and sights of the countryside. That said, there is so much to see and do in Rome, even on a Monday. You may want to stay there if it is a first trip.

Sent from my TM101A620M using Forums mobile app As it was said before, you can stay in Rome, you can go to Florence, you can go to venice or Naples. You can buy railway tickets 3 month in in advance www.trenitalia.com. If you go to Florence, buy tickets to Uffizi online in advance.
