new to rccl, credit card question

Recommended Posts

Usually it's best to be charged in local currency than to accept a businesses horrible exchange rate (in this case RCI).

The credit card company will use the market exchange rate. However, some charge a fee (usually 1-3%). That fee is generally better than the poor exchange rate RCI would give. If you have a card with no foreign transaction fees, that's ideal and always the best choice.

I have a question to piggyback on this thread. Aren't all charges on board in USD? What purchases on board would need to be exchanged by RCI or our bank? I was just completing the online checkin and that question re currency conversion was a surprise - so I'm so glad I was able to come to CC and search for answers!

All charges onboard are in USD. If you secure you onboard account with a USD denominated credit card, those questions about conversion do not apply to you.
