HelenP Posted September 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2017 We booked a post cruise excursion in Lucerne on the Viking Rhine Getaway. What is included? We want to do Mt Pilates and a cruise on Lake Lucerne. If it's an optional excursion what are the prices?

jnew55 Posted September 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2017 You will love Lucerne! We did Mt. Pilatus (which included a boat trip) on our own. The "GoldenTicket" was about $120 per person. Your hotel/Viking rep can give you all the details.
HelenP Posted September 4, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted September 4, 2017 Thanks Jnew55. Was it easy to get to on your own? It seems more reasonably priced.
jnew55 Posted September 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2017 It was VERY easy to do on our own, and no need to get your tickets ahead of time. I did a little research ahead of time to know what to expect, and then our hotel Viking rep filled in all of the details. The folks who did the Pearls of Switzerland enjoyed seeing lots of different things, but we really enjoyed exploring Mt. Pilatus at our own pace. WarEagle76 Posted September 5, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2017 We also looked into doing Mt. Pilatus on our own which as mentioned before is very doable. In the end, we decided on Viking's tour figuring we would probably not get back to this region and wanted the most we could get out of the experience. We had plenty of time on Mt. Pilatus and enjoyed the gondola ride down on the back side. The abbey was an enjoyable stop with a small shopping area and restaurants right across the street. The farm was very interesting and then we got to make cheese later which was a fun experience. While it was a long day, glad we did it as it gave a good insight into the entire region.
