Chewmonkey Posted June 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2004 Can anyone recall the email address/fees involved to send emails to someone onboard ship? Thanks
LoneStar72 Posted June 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2004 According to the docs I got last week for our June 11th Summit Alaska cruise, "the charge for the first 100KB of each e-mail message sent or received is $2. The incremental charge for sending/receiving e-mails is based on increments of 100KB up to 2MB." Obviously, the charge is made to the person onboard, not the person ashore. And, the e-mail charge is exclusive of the charge to access the InterNet (either through the Cafe, the lab, or via in-cabin personal laptop.) As far as the address, it looks like [passenger name]@[ship].CelebrityAtSea.com. Of course, [passenger name] is however Celebrity has the person listed, so you'd have to get that straight before hitting the "send" button. sivia Posted June 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2004 According to Celebrity, you can use their private e-mail system which allows you to send and receive e-mail messages up to 2MB in size. the connection to the internet is 24 x 7, subject to the stability of the satellite communications. Messages leave the ship immediately and arriave shortly after being sent. A voice mail message will be placed onn the passenger's stateroom phone when messages arrive for a guest. There is a $2.00 charge for the first 100KB of each inbound/outbound e-mail. This charge applies for all additional outbound e-mail addresses as well. For messages grater than 100KB there is an additional charge of $1.00 for each 100KB of message. Attachments are allowed. Internet access is available from all computers. The charge for internet access is $.75 a minute. Volume upfront purchases of 100 minutes at $.70 a minute, 200 minutes at $.60 a minute and 500 minutes at $.50 a minute are available. Guests can access hotmail, yahoo or other web based e-mail accounts using this service. Access to AOL, including buddy lists and address books are also available via the internet. So, if the passengers you are trying to contact on the ship sign up for any of these internet access accounts, you can just send them mail to their "normal" address and each time they access their account they'll receive your e-mail. Good luck.
CelebrityMan Posted June 7, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2004 I have used www.mail2web.com aboard Celebrity several times. It is a way to access ones' personal, normal e-mail simply by visiting the site and logging in using your e-mail address and password. Plus, it enables one to delete unwanted home e-mail so there's less to download at the end of a long cruise. ;-)
