FLL/Miami Jan.21st Pre-Cruise

We just booked a cruise this week on the Valor. We are flying into FLL on Saturday and need somewhere to stay that night. We also need to consider how we are going to get to the hotel and then on to the Port of Miami in the morning.

I have been searching like crazy for a few days and can't find hardly anything less than $200US....brutal prices...we are looking for something cheaper.

Does anyone have any thoughts on where to stay (FLL or Miami) and how we should get to the Port?

Thanks

Todd

Well it's going to be very difficult to find something a whole lot cheaper on such short notice, and considering that's a holiday week. The ones below are all (some just barely) under $200/night though.

To get from Fort Lauderdale to Miami a rental car is usually the cheapest way, but if you don't want to deal with that we use these companies, both are reliable, reputable local companies...

Tri-County/Airport Express' shared van service is the least expensive way... http://www.floridalimo.com/

Larry's Limo... http://larryslimo.com/

In Fort Lauderdale try these hotels, they're along SE 17th Street - A nice, safe area with dozens of restaurants, shops, grocery, drug & liquor stores as well as the Water Taxi all within easy walking distance...

Holiday Inn Express "Convention Center"... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hd/fllcc

Extended Stay America (your best bet for a nice inexpensive place)... http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/hotels/fort-lauderdale-convention-center-marina.html

AmeriSuites... http://amerisuites.com/reservations/locationdetail.asp?facid=3929

AmeriSutes is cheaper on Valuetrips, but that's a blackout date for them.

Along I-95, south of FLL...

Holiday Inn Hollywood... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/fllas

La Quinta Hollywood... http://www.lq.com/lq/properties/propertyProfile.do?ident=LQ985

These are all in the "Blue Lagoon" area on the south side of Miami International Airport, about 20 minutes to the Port of Miami...

Hampton Inn... http://www.hamptoninnmiamiairport.com/

Homewood Suites... http://homewoodsuites.hilton.com/en/hw/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=MIABLHW

Summerfield Suites... http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/MIASS/main.wnt

Sofitel... http://www.sofitel.com/sofitel/fichehotel/gb/sof/0889/fiche_hotel.shtml

Or the cheapest with rooms in downtown Miami, closest to the Port of Miami... Marriott Courtyard... http://www.miamicourtyard.com/

Everything else seems to be sold out or over $200/night at the moment.
