vinob Posted September 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2017 Hi Folks, Cruise ship organised beach tour VERSES local company or under own steam. We only have a few hours in port, leaving mid afternoon. The ship offers organised beach tour for just under £30pp which includes transfer, sunbed and welcome drink. Looking for a nice beach not to far from cruise port which provides sunbeds and umbrella, must also have restaurant/café and restroom facilities. Can anyone recommend local tour company offering the above with transportation, or if anyone has done it under their own steam how easy was it and what were the costs of taxi, sunbeds etc. Any help/comments would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Viv
nibbler 1 Posted October 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Taxis are very east to get there. Just hop in one and tell them to take you to St. James beach. Its about 10 minutes away. Clean restrooms, beach chairs and umbrella rentals. has restaurant and beach is free. There are 365 beaches in Antigua so you shouldn't have a problem finding one that suits you. Our taxi driver asked us when we wanted to go back, and he was waiting for us when we were ready to go.

Is there any decent snorkeling ? Is the restaurant where the restrooms & rentals are from ? Beachlimerz perhaps ? Thanks for your help :)

There are two restaurants that have chairs/umbrellas, rest rooms, and food. Beach Limerz on the south end and Millers on the north end. Mostly sandy with no reefs, so I doubt snorkeling is great, although you might get lucky with the ourcroping of rocks by Beach Limerz. There is also an old fort with the original cannons still in place that protected the bay hundreds of years ago that is interesting to explore.
